3rd Sunday of Easter

April 6, 2008

TODAY is a new day, rising fresh from the Creator’s Hand. Today we begin again, with praise and thanks to God who made us, to Christ who redeemed us, and to the Spirit who supports and guides us. Here we participate in the Fellowship of the Forgiven, the Church. Here we gather strength and wisdom for the days before us. It is good to be together today. If you are visiting please sign the guest register in the back of our Sanctuary. We look forward to worshipping with you again next week.

Angie and Colonel Combs place flowers on the altar to the glory of God, and in memory of Angie’s Mom.

Happy Birthday to: Cheryl Houck (Sat.)

Sarah Circle will be making lap blankets on April 17th at 7:15 p.m. for Hoparus of La Grange. The blankets and cross pin costs $8.00. We are accepting donations to help off set the cost. See Judy for more info.

PLEASE MAKE PLANS now to donate blood at the American Red Cross Blood Drive here at Holy Trinity on Saturday, May 24th from 10 a.m. –2 p.m. We need volunteers 16 years + to help on the day of the drive to register the participants and serve in the canteen. Volunteers will also be needed to phone local residents who are eligible to give blood and pass out fliers at stores and restaurants.  To give blood, you must be at least 17-years –old, weigh a minimum of 110 lbs and be in generally good health. We have an e-mail list service. This list is used for sending news of events and illnesses that occur between the time of our Sunday morning Bulletin and the newsletter. If you have e-mail and are not receiving the news, you can get on the list by phoning 225-6447 or send it to Charlie’s new e-mail address, walter6447@insightbb.com

I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly my Lord was speaking: “My name is I AM.” He paused. I waited. He continued. “When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not I Was. When you live in the future, with its problems and fears, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not I Will Be. When you live in this moment, it is not hard. I am here. My name is I AM.”

An old rabbinic teaching says that the one who prays within the home surrounds it with a wall that is stronger than iron. – William Barkley

After Thorwaldsen had completed his famous statue of Christ, he brought a friend to see it. Christ’s arms were outstretched, his head bowed between them. The friend said, “But I cannot see his face.” The sculptor replied, “If you want to see the face of Christ, you must get on your knees.”

People who squawk about their income tax can be divided into two classes: men and women.
