HISTORY OF HOLY TRINITY
On January 31, 1980 an Ad Hoc committee met to lay plans for a get acquainted meeting of all area Lutherans interested in forming a congregation in Oldham County. During the month of March meetings were held to organize and arrange for services. Rev. Robert Brockhoff, resident pastor at Cedar Lake Lodge, would serve as the developing pastor. Various Lutheran churches donated furnishings to be used by the new mission. The first worship service was held on April 6. 1980 at the Oldham County Middle School in Buckner with 49 in attendance. On Saturday, April 12 everyone met to clean the newly rented building located at 600 E. Jefferson which would serve as a temporary worship facility. April 13 was the first service in the new facility and after the service the name Holy Trinity was chosen.

June saw Holy Trinity's first baptism; July the Constitution was accepted; August the by-laws were accepted. On April 5, 1981, Holy Trinity's members, numbering 56 communicants, signed the charter document. At this time the total membership was 82.

In September 1981 5 acres of land was purchased from the Priest family on S. Hwy. 53 across from the Cherry House. In 1982 we received an LWML grant to help pay off the property and the mortgage burning took place in January 1983.

In April 1983 the members of Holy Trinity received word that Seminarian William Lahrman had received their call to be their pastor. In June they received the official acceptance of the call from him. Rev. William Lahrman was installed on July 24, 1983 as Holy Trinity's first full-time pastor,

In June 1984 discussion began on beginning our building program. The next year saw Holy Trinity seeking assistance, talking with representatives from 'Laborers for Christ' and getting started. The voting members moved to go ahead in June 1985 using Larry Thomas as the general contractor and the 'Laborers for Christ' concept. The building blueprints were accepted and ground breaking ceremonies were held on August 18th. Good weather allowed many hours of hard work by volunteer labor from Holy Trinity, their friends and other congregations. The cornerstone was laid on November 24, 1985. The building was finished and Holy Trinity held a Service of Consecration on February 2, 1986 as they began to worship in their new facility.

We thank God on this occasion for His blessing of our congregation during its entire history. His presence has been obvious day by day and we pray that He will continue to keep Holy Trinity in His care. To Him be all the glory on this happy occasion!
