May 27th -  Sola Society Graduation, Sunday Morning Worship 9:30 AM

The Sola Society is a weekly children's program designed to teach children the history and ideas of the Protestant Reformation, with particular emphasis on the Lutheran Reformation. They will memorize parts of Scripture, Luther's Small Catechism, and the Christian Creeds. There's games, music, awards, pins, graduation, and an annual Reformation Party.

"Sola" is the Latin word for alone. The name "Sola Society" comes from the four great "solas" of the Lutheran Reformation:

Our authority in matters of faith and practice is
Scripture alone.

Our salvation is found in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone.

The Sola Society was developed out of a concern that many children in churches grow up and find that, despite the many hours they spent in church, they do not know what they should believe about God, themselves, and the world. The Lutheran Reformation was an important time in the history of the church because it clarified the answer to questions such as how we come to know God, where God speaks to us, why we sin, and what the life and death of Jesus Christ means.

The Sola Society is focused on accomplishing three things:

1. That children would know what they should believe
2. That children would know why they should believe it
3. That children would know where their beliefs come from historically

The format is fun, interesting, and geared for all elementary age children.
