We confess the truth of Christian Scripture. We believe that God has spoken to us in it and that this Word is our highest authority for what we do and say as a church. As a confessional Lutheran congregation, we hold that Scripture is accurately taught by the Lutheran confessions in the Book of Concord.

We present here a basic overview of what our church teaches.

• In one God, existing in three persons (Trinity): Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

• The Holy Bible, although written by men, was inspired by the Holy Spirit and is without error. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

• All human beings are separated from God as members of a rebellious human race and that each of us has personally rebelled against God in the sinful ways that we think, speak, and act.

• God's primary purpose in creation and in redeeming people is that people would enjoy love and trust with God and with one another. (John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:19-21)

• God's salvation of people is by pure grace, that is, Jesus' death on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of all humanity and by His resurrection from the dead. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

• God's grace in Jesus is the only way by which people can be saved from the consequence of their sins/violations of God's law. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)

• Faith is given to people through a work of God's grace and that the primary way God communicates His grace is through Word (the message of the gospel) and through Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper). (The Gospel: Romans 10:17; Baptism: 6:4; The Lord's Supper: John 6:53-56; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17)

• Baptism is not a work that we do. Rather, it is God's work toward us. In it, God speaks to us so that baptism is a gracious water of life and a washing of regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5-6). It is not the water that does such great things, but the word of God which is in and with the water, and faith, which trusts the word of God in the water. For without the word of God the water is simple water and not baptism.

• Christ's body and blood is present in a gracious, forgiving way in the bread and the wine of the Lord's Supper. (Matthew 26:26-28)

• The church is called to make disciples by baptizing and teaching others what the Lord has commanded. (Matthew 28:18-20). 

• All Christians, each in their own way, have a responsibility to give witness to God's love in and through them both in their words and in their deeds. (1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12)
